Schmincke Research Alliance – Logo design

It’s not that often when clients know exactly what kind of logo they want. This time I had a client who knew exactly what he wanted – sphere with satellite and the name of the organization on the side. It had to be more like these Web 2.0 logos.

Requirements: Web 2.0 logo with sphere and a satellite. Color – Blue. Font style: Business.
First draft:

Client wanted different variations of satellite position so we came up with two more options:

We decided to stick with one satellite on top. Now we had to play with different fonts for the name.

Finally we came up with the following font. Now we had to pick up the color for the name.

Client loved the final one with blue logo and black name, so here is the final logo compared to the old one:
